What We Believe

The Whole Testament is a podcast putting the Old and New Testaments back together.

In most bibles, there is a “pesky white page” between what has come to be called the “Old” and “New” Testaments.  We believe that this single page is a metaphor for what has become a false division of the scriptures.  We believe in the whole testament.  Our goal is to put the two back together and explore the deeper meanings of our faith in Jesus in its original context of the Torah.

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and the Messiah spoken of in both the Old and New Testaments.  It is through faith in him alone that we are saved. We cannot earn our salvation! Eph 2:8

We also believe the words of Psalms 19:7-11
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.  More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.  Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. (ESV)

And Jesus in Matt. 5:17-19
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.  Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (ESV)

And also Paul in Romans 7:12
So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. (ESV)

We believe that in putting the two testaments back together we find a more complete understanding of the life we are called to live.  The blood of the Messiah allows us to live out the commands of God without fear of judgement.  (Romans 8:1-4) Through His grace, we are free to live out the perfect Law of God (James 1:25) not to achieve righteousness, but instead as an act of worship for the righteousness He imparts to us through His blood.

We also believe that this is a journey we are called to take part in (Acts 15:21). Not all of us will move at the same speed.  We believe that the most important thing is that we are moving.  2 Cor. 3:18 calls it being transformed from one degree of glory to another.  From Glory to Glory.  As God opens our eyes and our hearts to His Torah, we are moved from one degree of glory to another.  He is calling each and every one of us to be transformed into His image.  How does this happen?  He removes the veil from our eyes.  Either to reveal Jesus in the Torah, or to reveal the Torah to those who already follow Jesus.

As Paul says in 2Cor. 3:14-18
For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains un-lifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.  Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts.  But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. (ESV)

We ask that you join us on this journey of moving from Glory to Glory as we put the Old and New Testaments back together.  Come with us as we explore The Whole Testament.
